Earlier this year President Obama nominated Caitlyn Halligan, the former solicitor general of New York, as the judicial nominee for the U.S. Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Halligan’s vote of confirmation never occurred due to an overwhelming outpouring from members of Gun Owners of America demanding the senate NOT confirm her nomination.
Senator Reid used his power as the Majority Leader to pull off a procedural maneuver to reschedule Ms. Harrigan’s confirmation vote for this Tuesday.
Ms. Harrigan is well known for her anti-gun positions.
According to the Gun Owners of American, as New York’s solicitor general, Halligan was “one of the chief lawyers responsible for New York’s baseless and politically motivated efforts to bankrupt gun manufacturers using frivolous litigation. In so doing, Halligan proved that she places liberal political activism above fealty to the law. Halligan’s public hatred for firearms was only matched by her zealotry inside the courtroom. In a speech on May 5, 2003, Halligan called for ‘handgun manufacturers [to be held] liable for criminal acts committed with handguns.’”
What would happen if you held other industries responsible for criminal acts committed with their products? Ford would be responsible for every drive-by shooting, DWI, etc… involving one of their vehicles. Had Ms. Harrigan been successful in her lawsuit, it would completely eliminate firearms manufacturing in the United States overnight! What ever happened to the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution? Of course, the constitution has never really played a part in the Obama Administration – so why let it get in the way now?
In addition to her courtroom antics in filing frivolous lawsuits against gun manufacturers, Ms. Harrigan went on to sign a brief asking for the New York courts to declare the federal Gun Maker’s Protection Act unconstitutional. So it appears as though she likes the constitution when it will help her push her liberal agenda, but when the constitution is used to protect the rights and freedoms of the American people, then it should be ignored.
Does that sound like the kind of person you want sitting on the federal bench? Me neither. Do not let the liberal Obama/Reid team take away our rights to “bear arms.” Contact your Senator today and tell them to vote against anti 2nd Amendment Caitlin Halligan. Then do your part in the upcoming elections and support true conservatives that will help us Take Our Country Back.
