In 2009, the Obama administration and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder initiated operation Fast and Furious. According to Wikipedia, the purpose of the operation was to let guns be smuggled into Mexico in order to track their use. A.G. Holder admits that operation was “flawed in its concept and flawed in its execution.”
The ATF allowed a minimum of 2000 guns to be transported into Mexico and to date only 600 have been recovered. Wikipedia further states that “ATF field agents monitoring the U.S.-Mexico border had intended to apprehend gun smugglers attempting to cross over into Mexico with large numbers of guns, but were told by their superiors to stand down and let the smugglers pass.”
The guns have been traced to multiple violent crimes against federal agents, the latest being the murder of a United States Border Patrol Agent in Rio Rico, Arizona.
According to USA Today, one ATF agent testified, “I cannot begin to think of how the risk of letting guns fall into the hands of known criminals could possibly advance any legitimate law enforcement interest."
ATF agent Vince Cefalu “blew the whistle” on the failed Fast and Furious operation and was quickly fired from his job in what appeared to be a political motivated decision.
But it gets worse. According to the Corruption Chronicles, the Obama Administration “abruptly sealed court records containing alarming details of how Mexican drug smugglers murdered a U.S. Border patrol agent with a gun connected to a failed federal experiment that allowed firearms to be smuggled into Mexico.” Not only did the administration confiscate the public court records but they also sealed the Judge’s decision to seal the records, so we will never know why they were sealed in the first place.
In addition, no one knows why the man charged with the murder, Osorio-Arellanes, has not faced his day in court yet as he was charged almost a year ago. On a side note…in 2006, Osorio-Arellanes was convicted in Phoenix of felony aggravated assault and in 2010, he was twice detained for being in the U.S. illegally.
Why did the Obama administration arm gun smugglers in Mexico and why are they sealing all of the documents surrounding the murder of a U.S. Border Agent by an illegal alien? All of this from the man who said he would have the most transparent administration in history. Well, that is not the first time he failed to keep his word. I did not trust him then and I hope you do not trust him now.
