Ronald Reagan, one of the greatest Presidents in history, said “Of the four wars in my lifetime, none came about because the U.S. was too strong.”
This is a completely different view from our current Commander in Chief, President Barak Obama. President Obama is making severe cuts in our military forces, during a time when there is an escalating crisis in the Middle East. There are terrorist across the world that are currently pursuing nuclear weapons for one purpose only – to eliminate the United States of America and the nation of Israel.
President Reagan knew that peace came through strength. During his time as President, Reagan built the military to one of the strongest in history. And now we have a President that has adopted a military policy based on being nice. If we just say “pretty please” then our enemies will certainly leave us alone – right? Well if you believe that then I have some ocean front property in Colorado to sell you.
After the current military cuts are taken, we will have reduced every branch of our military. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Rep. Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) said, “this is a lead from behind strategy for a left-behind America. The President has packaged our retreat from the world in the guise of a new strategy to mask his divestment of our military and national defense. This strategy ensures American decline in exchange for more failed domestic programs. In order to justify massive cuts to our military, he has revoked the guarantee that America will support our allies, defend our interests, and defy our opponents. The President must understand that the world has always had, and will always have a leader. As America steps back, someone else will step forward.”
Even Leon Panetta, Obama’s Secretary of Defense, said that, “the cuts in defense proposed by President Barack Obama will create ‘risks’ in America's ‘capability to respond’ to threats.” Army Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, echoed Panetta’s assessment, while pointing out that when the administration's cuts in defense are implemented there will be risk that the U.S. military will not be able to do as much as quickly as it can do now. So what do we do? The best thing for all Americans will be to replace President Obama with someone who is proud to be an American, someone who will not apologize for our exceptionalism, but embrace it as a reality. That is true “change we can believe in” but will only happen if people get involved. Consider what you can do to help change the course of the greatest country on earth – then DO IT!

We just celebrated “Sanctity of Life” Sunday. It was the 39th anniversary of the United States Supreme Courts historical Roe v. Wade decision. This decision was the beginning of the modern day multi-billion dollar abortion industry.
According to the Guttmacher Institute, since 1973, when the Roe v. Wade decision was handed down by the highest court in the land, there have been approximately 50 MILLION abortions in the United States. In 2008 alone, the latest year in which statistics are available, there were 1.21 MILLION abortions – which equal 3,322 abortions PER DAY!
Even if you don’t see things from a spiritual standpoint, at least acknowledge that countries that don’t value life don’t generally end well…see also Nazi Germany. To put the number in perspective, the horror of the lives lost in the holocaust was only 1/8 of the number of infants we have terminated in the last 39 years right here in the United States.
50 million people…a generation gone. Many of whom would have gone on to do amazing things. Perhaps cure cancer or run for President. Certainly, the majority would have been working taxpayers paying into Social Security, Medicare and keeping our economy afloat.
As a political party, Democrats applaud Roe v. Wade as one of the greatest accomplishments in legal history. The Democratic Party supports Roe v. Wade and the legal execution of innocent human life. Don’t believe me? Check out their platform for yourself.
The Republican Party believes Roe v. Wade is wrong and should be overturned. They believe in the sanctity of life, and feel that every life should be protected, especially the unborn.
On the 39th anniversary of the horrendous ruling, I am reminded of the 139th Psalm – “For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to Thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
To bring awareness to the tragedy of abortion, the Lubbock Right to Life held a candidate forum last weekend inviting all of the candidates running for State Representative in our area. Out of the four candidates currently running for HD85, I was the only one to show up at the debate. You see it is easy for candidates to talk big about being conservative when they are running for office, but harder for them to face tough questions in a forum. Guess what is even harder than that? To do the right thing once elected. That is why we need courageous conservatives who don’t cower from the challenges of our time…men and women of conviction and action.
I am proud of my stand for the unborn. In this past session I was part of a group of about 12 legislators that worked hard to remove $65 MILLION of your taxpayer dollars from abortion clinics. This has resulted in 11 abortion facilities in the state of Texas closing their doors since September.
Although we had the most pro-life session of any state in history, if we do not continue to elect true conservatives, the other side will try to undo everything we accomplished. If you believe all life is created by God and should be protected – then join me. Together, we will continue this fight to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

It’s true, I did not get my degree in accounting; however I -- like most common sense Americans --know that you can’t spend your way to prosperity. I know that when your family credit card is maxed out, you have to cut your spending habits and pay it down. You make tough decisions around the kitchen table that aren’t always popular, but critical to the family’s long term goals.
Yet our President and bureaucrats in DC don’t seem to get that. To date, we have borrowed $15.2 TRILLION dollars ($15,200,000,000,000.00) and President Obama is now increasing our debt ceiling by another $1.2 TRILLION. It is like giving cocaine to an addict. We have a spending problem and increasing the debt ceiling only enables the addicts to continue to “use” the national credit card. This will bring our total debt limit (i.e. the amount of money we can borrow) to $16.4 TRILLION dollars.
According to Stuart Varney with Fox News, the United States will be paying $10 BILLION dollars EVERY WEEK for INTEREST payments alone.
According the CNSNEWS, Obama has increased the national debt $4.24 billion dollars EVERY DAY he has been in office. If he stays on this pace, he will have increased the national debt more than every President from George Washington to Bill Clinton – COMBINED.
On January 20, 2009, when Barak Obama took office, the debt was $10.6 trillion dollars. Sometime in the next week or so the debt ceiling will officially be $16.4 trillion dollars – an increase of $5.8 trillion or $5,800,000,000,000.00
If we do not do something soon, there will be no turning back from an economic disaster brought about by a President that seems hell bent on ruining our economy. If we want our children or grandchildren to have a chance we must change the course of our nation in 2012. Otherwise the next generation will ultimately work harder for a lower standard of living, because they will be required to surrender their earnings to U.S. creditors.
Who are these creditors you ask? Would you believe that the foreign nations which own our debt are China, Japan, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Ecuador, Venezuela, Indonesia, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Gabon, Libya, and Nigeria. Surprised?
Now is the time to make some hard decisions for what is best for the long-term success of OUR country, OUR children, and OUR future. Get involved in campaigns and work hard for conservative candidates. Let’s take the country back this year!

2012…Were the Mayans Onto Something?
What has happened over the past 12 months has never been seen in American history. Never before has the U.S. government involved itself in the everyday lives of its citizens as it has in the past year.
From government-sanctioned invasive pat downs at airports that infringe on our right to privacy to bailouts of private sector businesses by making them public sector business all the while putting the taxpayers on the hook. From mandating that we as “free” people must purchase health insurance to putting us under such an enormous debt that we cannot possibly pay it of resulting in subjecting our children to complete government dependence. Oh and let’s not forget allowing the avowed enemy of the United States to work towards obtaining a nuclear weapon while we sit idly by with a foreign policy that amounts to saying “shame on you…don’t do that again…we really mean it this time.”
So much of our freedom has disappeared so quickly, it seems like a bad dream – but it’s not. It’s reality.
Freedom is the essential component of a prosperous country. Sure there are countries with wealth (Saudi Arabia, Iraq, etc…), but that wealth is concentrated in a few families, while the majority of the people live substandard. These people are neither free not prosperous. With all of our challenges, we still live in the greatest country on earth. Our challenge for the future will be keeping our American exceptionalism.
If something doesn’t change this year, our economy is heading towards a depression the likes of which we have never seen. The dollar is quickly becoming worthless when compared to some of the other currencies. Investment money is leaving the United States for foreign countries (and our jobs along with it).
Our morality is continuing to slip as fewer and fewer people practice the biblical principles our country was founded upon. Many years ago, a Korean pastor said it was amazing what the American church could accomplish without the Holy Spirit. If we don’t hit our knees and pray for God to heal our land, we are one generation away from Godlessness.
When are we going to awaken and realize how far we have fallen? I hope it is soon – before it is too late.
I have both fear and hope for my children. Fear in the direction our country is headed, but hope that we can still turn things around. I believe in a sovereign God who has great things in store for each of us. I pray that this New Year will bring you hope and blessing, and that you will share that with others. Together we can make a difference and change the future for all that follow.

As I write this article, I am watching my daughter wrap some last minute Christmas gifts for family friends and I can’t help but wonder what the country will look like when she is watching her children wrap Christmas gifts? For those of us who are old enough, we will even recognize our great land?
There is so much to do to turn our country around that the task can - at times - seem daunting.
Over the past three years, we have watched in horror as our President did everything he could to take away the freedoms and opportunities afforded us by our founding fathers and the U.S. Constitution. Whether it was through government ownership of private businesses (i.e. the bailout of General Motors) or forcing Americans to buy something (i.e. health insurance)… some of the most un-American ideals have been perpetrated on us in a very short period of time.
Not only will our President not allow us to drill for new oil under our very feet, but his administration is also making it even more difficult to produce the oil, which is already being drilled. This is killing jobs during a time when our economy is reeling from the highest unemployment rate in recent history. It is also allowing terrorist nations to hold us captive because of our dependence on them for our energy needs, not to mention increasing the cost of everything we buy during one of the worst recessions in American history.
If that is not enough, just this past week President Obama said he would withhold federal funds used to provide healthcare to our Texas citizens, unless we agree to use Texas taxpayer money to pay for elective abortions. This is an insult to Texas and a direct violation of the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
My colleagues and I fought nobly during session to ensure that no Texas taxpayer dollars were used to fund abortion clinics and now with a swipe of a pen, Obama seeks to dictate from on high what our state can and can’t do with our own money.
The task seems daunting, I know. Overwhelming at times. But we can not be discouraged, nor can we be dismayed. This is the time for men and women of courage to stand up and be counted. This is the time that will define the very future of our great land.
Will it be easy? No. But to not act is to concede that our children and grandchildren will not live in the same United States that we grew up in. I for one refuse to teach my grandchildren how we lost our freedom by doing nothing, to tell them that our country wasn’t taken from us through violence, but instead we gave it away through complacency. Donte said, “the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, do nothing.”
Reflecting during this holiday season, I believe we are in a time of great moral crisis. Our current leadership is openly forcing us away from what our country was founded upon – personal responsibility, freedom, opportunity, and the God of the Bible. If we want our children and grandchildren to live in the country we grew up in, we can not afford to “do nothing”.
The task is daunting, but we are a strong people. May 2012 be the year that we stood up and were counted…the year that we took our country back.
May God bless you during this holiday season, and may He bless us patriots as we fight to Take Our Country Back. No – as we fight to give our country back – back to God from whom all blessings flow.
